About the event

Indigenous communities, small farmers, and peasants make up over a quarter of the global population, provide about 70% of the international food supply, and make up an estimated 80% of the world’s poor. Their land is their life. Yet, due to their lands being stolen by profit-driven developers, environmental disaster, and state neglect and corruption, they are regularly forced to leave their ancestral lands and migrate abroad. Over 8000 Filipinos, many former peasant farmers, migrate abroad daily in search of livelihood outside of their homeland. Join Kalikasan Solidarity Organization for an educational event exploring the direct connections between the struggles of peasants & migrants. Members who recently integrated with poor Indigenous & peasant communities in the Philippines will report back on their human rights missions. We will end the event sharing about migrant-led organizing initiatives you can support & be involved with.

We will have free food available for attendees. If you are able, please bring a potluck item to contribute to the community members attending.
