EMO’s Earth Summit is an opportunity for people of faith and goodwill to gather locally around a shared care for our neighbors and the environment we all depend on. Through Zoom, we will connect our statewide community. For reference, here is last year’s web page and Zoom recording.
This year’s Earth Summit is an invitation to:
  • Re-Connect with people like you across Oregon who seek a safe, healthy, abundant, and beautiful world for all.
  • Re-Imagine your community, resilient and thriving with nature.
  • Re-New your commitment to action, and find your place in the movement.

To embody this theme, we plan to create a statewide art project: an Oregon Community Quilt.
EMO staff, in partnership with local hosts and volunteers, will facilitate this creative time during the Earth Summit. Each participant will be invited to draw, paint, or craft one square in the quilt — and to write a short response to the question: “I / We have the right to…clean water, clean air, healthy food, etc.”

We will recruit volunteer photographers to digitize each square and submit it to EMO, where will bring all of the squares together into a work of art that reflects the beautiful diversity of our community. Our goal is to take the quilt on tour to inspire support for the people’s right to a safe & healthy environment. Ultimately, we will ask for the quilt to be displayed in the Oregon Capitol.
