Portland kicked-off PNW Climate Week 2026 at Lewis and Clark College with a day of activities designed for hope, strategy and community. Two ORCAH Partners, Future Climate Collective and Electrify Oregon, joined forces with Lewis & Clark Law School and its Green Energy Institute to create the event “Empowering Local Climate Action: Education, Policy and Practice”. The event launched with a number of people sharing their ideas for a future they could love and they were invited to stop doomscrolling, engage in radical imagination and reimagine Portland around nature, energy, transportation and infrastructure. The group’s imaginings coalesced into these themes:
- Nature – Shared spaces in nature build connection
- Energy – Clean electricity is EVERYWHERE
- Transportation – Carways have become tree-popping pocket forests
- Infrastructure – IRL (in real life) connection builds community strength
For those unable to attend, the work of Rob Hopkins and his book How to Fall in Love with the Future: a time traveller’s guide to changing the world can transport you there. If we can picture it, we can create it!
