About the event:

Rally for Forest Park!

When: 8:45 A.M. on Wednesday, October, 14th.

Where: Portland City Hall, 1221 SW 4th Ave, Portland

What: Groups will rally at City Hall alongside organizations such as Forest Park Conservancy, Bird Alliance of Oregon, Sierra Club, 350PDX, and more. Together, we will call on Portland City Council to protect Forest Park and to continue pushing back against PGE’s attempts to bypass the Forest Park Natural Resources Management Plan.

Portland City Council has their regular council meeting at 9:30 A.M. While the Harborton Reliability Project is not on the council agenda, there is a brief opportunity for community members to speak on any topic at the start of the meeting. Rally organizers will sign up to speak in one of these slots. We are asking folks to join the meeting as a silent demonstration of support for Forest Park during this brief public comment.

Wear green to show your support for Forest Park!

Background:  In July, the City signed an agreement with PGE to allow PGE to submit a new version of their application to conduct work and remove hundreds of trees in Forest Park. If approved, it would allow for PGE to cut over 370 trees, disrupt two streams, and fill two wetlands, all in Forest Park. In addition, this deal guarantees that City staff will issue a recommendation on PGE’s application, compromising the integrity of the application process.
