About Us

The Higher Education Coordinating Commission’s (HECC) Office of Workforce Investments (OWI) has two initiatives that align with climate-related work and community and workforce development.

  • Oregon Youth Works, funds local youth workforce providers throughout the state. Oregon Youth Works includes five workforce development grant programs that support paid work experiences for thousands of youth statewide. These programs support local organizations that provide paid work, workforce training, career exposure, academic support, and essential employability skills for youth ages 13-26.We have two primary roles. We distribute funding—often through an open, competitive process—allowing for fiscal and programmatic oversight and accountability. We also provide policy direction and technical assistance.Visit the Oregon Youth Works websiteFollow @oregonyouthworks on Instagram

  • Oregon Serves, AmeriCorps is a federal agency whose mission is to improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through service and volunteering.

In Oregon, more than 4,500 AmeriCorps members commit their time to serving with local nonprofits, schools, religious organizations, and other groups to provide hands-on solutions to our state’s toughest challenges.

As the Oregon State Service Commission, OregonServes is tasked with advancing and supporting AmeriCorps throughout the state of Oregon. We administer federal grant funds to AmeriCorps programs to work alongside their communities to help bring about change.
