About Us
Oregon Youth Works includes five workforce development grant programs that support paid work experiences for thousands of youth statewide. These programs support local organizations that provide paid work, workforce training, career exposure, academic support, and essential employability skills for youth ages 13-26. Oregon Youth Works, part of the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) Office of Workforce Investments (OWI), funds local youth workforce providers throughout the state. We have two primary roles. We distribute funding—often through an open, competitive process—allowing for fiscal and programmatic oversight and accountability. We also provide policy direction and technical assistance. As part of the national American Climate Corps initiative, State Service Commissions like OregonServes have the opportunity to work with Oregonians to better understand statewide efforts as well as mutual resources that can bring us together and align our respective work. Join the Office of Workforce Investments’ staff and our guest speaker Kif Scheuer, Strategy and Project Lead with Farallon Strategies, as we briefly outline the national American Climate Corps initiative, highlight some State models throughout the Nation, and share our vision for an Oregon Climate Alliance. Attendees can provide feedback on the proposed network model as we aim to strengthen workforce pathways to in-demand careers in Oregon’s clean energy and climate-resilience economy.
