About the event

Join us on April 29 for a Legislative Progress Briefing, where we’ll walk through key developments from the past three months of Oregon’s 2025 legislative session. With over 70 climate-related bills in play, our Federal and State Project Team—supported by dedicated volunteers—has been actively engaging with legislators, submitting more than 120 public comments, and helping to block harmful proposals while advancing climate action.

SOCAN’s Federal and State Project Team continues to play a pivotal role during Oregon’s legislative sessions, advancing climate-responsible policy through direct engagement with legislators, their staff, and relevant agencies. As a trusted source of scientific expertise and strategic insight, SOCAN empowers lawmakers and candidates with the tools they need to respond meaningfully to the climate crisis.

As we navigate the 2025 Legislative Session, our team is currently tracking more than 70 bills addressing greenhouse gas reduction, climate adaptation, and individual action. Of particular concern are several proposals aimed at reversing Oregon’s 1980 ballot measure, which prohibits the development of nuclear energy facilities without a verified, safe method of waste disposal.

With the invaluable support of eight dedicated volunteers, we’ve submitted over 120 public comments this session. Our collective efforts have already made a difference—several harmful bills failed to move forward after the March 21st deadline.

To share more about these developments, we invite you to join us for an upcoming Legislative Progress Briefing. At this event, we’ll walk through what’s unfolded over the past three months, highlight key wins and ongoing challenges, and provide space for questions and community dialogue.

Your voice, your attention, and your continued presence matter. Together, we’re building a more informed and resilient Oregon.
