The Oregon Department of Forestry (ODF) has opened a comment period on a draft Forest Management Plan for state forests in Western Oregon and the future of our state forests hangs in the balance. Comment through January 31.

Ten years ago, the Legislature approved KPM 10, establishing a goal to have complex forest structure make up 30% of the North Coast State Forests landscape. Right now it’s 11.75% with parcels of mature forest sold off for clear cutting regularly.
