Text below from Friends of Smart Growth.

It’s with gratitude to our community and amazing candidates that we celebrate that the vast majority of the Friends of Smart Growth slate won their elections!

These five are going to the general election:
Myrna Muñoz for Senate District 15
Susan McLain for House District 29
Tammy Carpenter for House District 27
Nafisa Fai for Washington County Chair
Kipperlyn Sinclair for Washington County District 4

While Blayne Soleymani-Pearson is not in the runoff for District 2, he is part of this movement and we hope to see him in office soon.

This was a tremendous victory for Washington County, with voters electing officials who are committed to responsible, transparent, inclusive governance that centers people in our economic development plans, and protects our natural resources. Thank you to everyone who voted, knocked on doors, waved signs, called strangers and friends asking them to vote, and donated to these campaigns.

But the fight is not over.

Nafisa Fai for Washington County Chair and Kipperlyn Sinclair for Washington County District 4 face strong competition in the general election and will need your help. We are also seeing the City of Hillsboro double down on data centers by applying for property tax breaks that last 25 years from now on at least 18 data centers’ behalf. And we’re seeing momentum to stop the proliferation of data centers, with almost 4,000 signatures on the Washington County data center moratorium petition.
