Oregon’s Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is set to receive nearly $200 million to boost efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions from the state’s biggest sectors: buildings, transportation, and waste and materials management. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded the agency $197,181,796 over the next five years through its Climate Pollution Reduction Grant program. The Nez Perce Tribe was also selected to receive nearly $38 million to fund projects like residential energy efficient retrofits and adding renewable energy infrastructure.
