Our thanks to Ginny Katz, MPH of HazAdapt as well as Liaison Lunch attendees for an ever-so-relevant conversation regarding disaster preparedness and emergency response.
A key set of points from the presentation on why these discussions are important right now:
- The trust gap between the public and government is growing
- We have entered a post-truth era
- People are continuing to search for NGO (non-governmental organization) “validator sources” they trust
- Partnerships and shared missions make us more resilient!
HazAdapt was founded right here in Oregon and provides an application for people across the nation to reference before, during, and after a hazardous event. HazAdapt notes: Our goal is to build tools to help people (real, everyday not-trained-professionals-type people) connect to safety resources, adapt to the situation, and overcome with a strong recovery.
And they have done just that via the free HazAdapt application which you can download from the App Store related to your device platform (Apple, Android, etc.)
